The people of Karnataka and Kannadigas have important cultural values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. We also have the responsibility of promoting our precious culture, not only at our home but also in other parts of the world as well. Chandana Kannada Sangha , is a non-profit organization that serves to fulfill this purpose in the Kansas City metro area.

Chandana Kannada Sangha (CKS) is a cultural organization that serves to promote cultural and social activities of Kannadigas in the Kansas City Metro Area. It has always been very active in organizing social events. Chandana Kannada Sangha events always provide an opportunity for Kannadigas (and their family and friends) to interact with other Kannadigas and their friends and enjoy delicious authentic home-made food. Chandana Kannada Sangha events, thus are an occasion to present/exhibit inherent talents of Kannadigas. Most importantly, Chandana Kannada Sangha provides a forum where the children of Kannadigas are able to imbibe the culture of Kannadigas, so that their ties to their motherland are intact even though they are living so far away from relatives and other family members.

 

ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಚಂದನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘದ ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ತಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಸ್ವಾಗತ.  ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸಾಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತ ಇರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಸಂಘ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.  ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಭಾಷೆ, ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವುದು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಾದ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೊಣೆ.  ಚಂದನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘವು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷವು ಅನೇಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ.  ಉಗಾದಿ, ದೀಪಾವಳಿ, ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ, ವನಭೋಜನ, ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟ, ಸಂಗೀತ ಕಛೇರಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಅನೇಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಉತ್ಸುಕತೆಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.  ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲಿ ಸುಪ್ತಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸದಾವಕಾಶ.  ತಾಯ್ನಾಡಿನ ಕೊಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ನಮಗೂ ಹಾಗೂ ನವಪೀಳಿಗೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಲು, ಕನ್ನಡ ಪಾಠ ಕಲಿಸಲು ಚಂದನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘವು ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.  ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉಳಿದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗದ ಜೊತೆ ಕೂಡಿ, ಕಲೆತು, ನಕ್ಕು ನಲಿದೆ ಕಷ್ಟ ಸುಖ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ವಿಚಾರವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಲು, ಹಾಗೂ, ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಈ ಊರಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಗೆಳೆತನ ಬೆಳಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಚಂದನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘವು ಎಡೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

Wish you all a very happy new year. First, we would like to thank you for taking the interest in Chandana Kannada Sanga's (CKS) activities and visiting our web site. CKS is a cultural organization that serves to promote cultural and social activities of Kannadigas in the Kansas City Metro Area. Your new Executive Committee is planning on the following events in 2011 for you:
  1. Ugadhi festival celebration – April 23
  2. Tennis Camp for kids to support a Charitable cause – Jun 3rd or 18th
  3. Summer Picnic – Aug 27th
  4. Cricket Tournament – Late spring or early fall
  5. Tennis Tournament – Late Sept/early Oct.
  6. Deepavali/Kannada Rajyotsava Celebrations – Early Nov.
  7. Sankranthi & AGM meeting – Mid January 2012

In addition, the CKS youth group is planning on the following activities for 2011:
  1. Music performance at John Knox Village - Feb. 12th (Done)
  2. Harvesters Volunteering -date TBD
  3. Spring Break party - during spring break weekend
  4. Impromptu speech competition - Summer 2011
  5. Pool Party - July 2011
  6. Pumpkin Carving Contest - October 2011
  7. Visit to Worlds of Fun - Summer 2011
  8. Holiday party -- Dec. 2011.

CKS is our home away from home. It is our extended family and it does not exist without you (the members that form the CKS). Though a few of us are in the Executive Committee the success of the CKS and its activities are dependent upon your enthusiastic support and participation. Hence our request to you is to keep visiting this web site, keep coming to events, participate in the activities whether on the stage or off, whether cooking, cleaning, cheering or giving that all important funds.

Finally, ask not what CKS can do for you. Ask what you can do for the success of CKS.
